Inside El Sierra Elementary School on a recent afternoon, Kelly Wyatt led her fourth-grade class in an exercise on adverbs.
But the students weren’t studying from individual workbooks or coming up to a whiteboard. Instead, Wyatt walked about the room with an iPad, which beamed interactive images onto a screen at the head of the class. Wyatt passed the iPad to a student, who circled the adverb in the sentence on the image.
Such is the dynamic this year throughout all Downers Grove Grade School District 58 classrooms, where each is outfitted with an iPad and an Apple TV. Educators say it helps make lessons more student-centered, convenient and varied.
